When was the last time you walked three miles just to get clean water? Can you remember the last time you've made a difference in helping those in need become self-reliant? Vetiver processing was introduced to Haiti in the 1940s by Frenchman Lucien Ganot.

Vetiver can grow up to 1.5 metres high and form clumps as wide. The stems are tall and the leaves are long, thin, and rather rigid; the flowers are brownish-purple. Unlike most grasses, which form horizontally spreading, mat-like root systems, vetiver's roots grow downward, 2–4 m in depth.

Vetiver grass is grown for many different purposes. The plant helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion, but it can also protect fields against pests and weeds. Vetiver has favourable qualities for animal feed. From the roots, oil is extracted and used for cosmetics, aromatherapy, herbal skincare and ayurvedic soap . Due to its fibrous properties, the plant can also be used for handicrafts, ropes  and more.

Vetiver, Vetiveria zizanioides is antiseptic, antispasmodic, calming, grounding, immune stimulant, rubefacient, and sedative.

Vetiver essential oil may help acne, anorexia, anxiety, arthritis, breast, cuts, depression, insomnia, muscular rheumatism, nervousness, skin care, sprains, stress, and tuberculosis. Blends with clary sage, lavander, rose, sandalwood, and ylang ylang.

Oral Use As Dietary Supplement: Vetiver essential oil is approved by the FDA for use as Food Additive and Flavoring Agent. Dilute one drop oil in one tsp. honey or in 4 oz. of beverage. Not for children under 6 years old.
