Marita del Carmen Camacho Quiros (born 10 March 1911) is a Costa Rican supercentenarian who served as the First Lady of Costa Rica from 1962 to 1966. She has been the oldest living undisputed person in Costa Rica since the death of 111-year-old Claudia Soto Saborio on 10 December 2020. She is also the oldest first lady ever, the oldest living notable person, and the oldest person ever from Costa Rica. Her age is validated by LongeviQuest (LQ). 

In Costa Rica we are all family, for example, my kinship with the twice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Oscar Arias Sánchez, also Tomás Guardia Gutiérrez, and three times president Romualdo Ricardo Jiménez Oreamuno, from 1910 to 1914, from 1924 to 1928 and from 1932 to 1936.

 

My great-great-grandmother Juana Camacho 1843-1929 is the third cousin of President Ricardo Jiménez. My great-great-grandfather Manuel Arias 1837-1890 is a fourth cousin of Mr. Oscar Arias's great-grandfather, Miguel Arias Acosta.   

 

My great-grandmother Manuela Arias 1876-1959 is the fifth cousin of President Tomás Guardia 1831-1882, the highest authority in the country for twelve years and who inaugurated the railway section between Alajuela and San José.   

The same happens with the "In laws family", for example Marita Camacho, wife of President Francisco José Orlich 1907-1969, was related to my mother through the conquistador Cristóbal de Alfaro 1540-1585.  Don Chico left the presidency as a well-loved figure and died of a stroke three years later.  He died on 29 October 1969 in San José. His wife, Marita Camacho Quirós, is (as of 2023) 112, thus being the longest-living person in Costa Rica and the oldest former First Lady in the world.
